Tanya Huston founded Nile Productions in 1994 in Queens, New York, with a vision to enrich her Christian community with fun, engaging and faith-driven activities. Despite a fulfilling life as a young Christian, Tanya saw a gap in creative, socially enriching events for her age group. This inspired her to create Nile Productions, aiming to provide well crafted entertaining experiences.
She rallied the support of a few friends she met at/or through her college experience to bring her vision to life. Their inaugural event, “Putting On The Hits,” a gospel-themed lip sync contest was a well received and marked the beginning of a series of dynamic events, including step show competitions, comedy nights, gospel hip-hop shows, and various conferences.
In 2011, following corporate layoffs, Tanya returned to her creative roots, working in film and television around New York City and eventually became a SAG-AFTRA member. This experience paved the way for Nile Productions’ transition into film and television production. Since launching their first film, “Ex-Offenders” in 2015, the company has completed well over a dozen other projects and continues to expand its impact in the industry.
